I have three different methods. I have used the seiko kinetic charger, but it gets the watch so hot that it makes me nervous. I also have two different kinds of winders that work well: the Orbita "Sparta" type winder and the electronic winder that Sharper Image used to sell. I am happy to report that ptwang's find of the Dakota Watch REQ induction charger is a cost effective solution to charging my Seiko kinetic. I have an older 5m42 movement and had replaced the capacitors with a lithium battery about a year and half ago.

Most (all?) kinetic and AGS watches that I've seen have their charging coil mounted pointing north-to-south around the 9 o'clock area in which case sitting them upright in the candle holder should be most efficient, as in the photo below.
